In the early 1800’s Ridgefield’s commerce grew from building mills and grand estates that sprouted up in the wake of the Industrial boom. Scores of carpenters worked amongst these many new homes as well as the preeminent carriage “manufactory” of the time, Resseguie & Olmstead. There, artists joined iron and hardwoods to create the latest fashion of moving about town on the isle of Manhattan.
In the spirit of Resseguie and Olmstead’s “Big Shop” as it was called, we’ve humbly named ours “The Little”.
It is also in that spirit that we work to preserve the vision, the mission, and the methods of the craftsmen of a bygone era. We do this by designing with an eye on constant improvement, and a recognizable hat-tip to those that have come before us.
